Baggage

Please make sure your
name, address and phone No. appear on the
inside as well as the outside of your checked
bags. Most Airlines limit their carry-on bags
to a range of 8" to 9" high,
14" to 16" wide and 21" to
24" high. The lower limits are for under
seat storage and larger limits for the more
generous overhead compartment. A 45"
total (height + width + depth) can be used as
a basic guideline to see if your bag will be
allowed as a carry-on. And also most
Airlines have a carry-on weight limit of 40
pounds and a checked baggage weight limit of
70 pounds. These limits vary and are also much
more strictly enforced then in the past. Since
the Airlines' Luggage restrictions are going
through a recent period frequent change,
you'll need to check with your chosen Airlines
as to size, weight and number of acceptable
bags.

When traveling to a country
that requires a VISA, look carefully at the
effective dates; countries outside the US use
the date format day/month/year. This is
especially critical early in the year.
If you show up in the wrong month you may not
be allowed to enter the country.
Have a photocopy made of your passport ID page
and airline tickets, credit cards, driver's
license, before you embark on your trip. Keep
them somewhere other than with the passport
and tickets. You should probably photocopy
your credit cards also. If you lose either,
the photocopy will expedite getting
replacements.
